LPN to ADN Advanced Standing Option

Students who are in a practical nursing program or are already Licensed Practical Nurses may apply for the advanced standing option. Student will complete one additional year of nursing education along with the required general education requirements.

Prior to January 31

  • Apply to Cloud Nursing Program 
  • Request Official transcripts from ALL college(s) attended be sent to CCCC Admissions Department (excluding CCCC transcripts)
  • Request Official High school transcript or GED be sent to CCCC Admissions Department
  • Schedule Nursing Entrance Exam nursing@cloud.edu 

Prior to March 1

  • Complete Nursing Entrance Exam
  • Submit Professional References 
  • Ensure Official transcripts from ALL college(s) are on file with the CCCC Admissions Department
  • Ensure Official High school transcript or GED are on file with the CCCC Admissions Department

Prior to August 1

  • Complete Nursing Prerequisite courses with grade C or better - see sample curriculum
  • Hold current Kansas recognized LPN License

Admission Requirements

Admission to the School of Nursing is based on entrance exam, academic history, number of prerequisite courses completed, references and satisfactory completion of a Background Check. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that their file is complete. The School of Nursing seeks students who exhibit appropriate communication skills, caring attributes, personal integrity, accountability, ethical decision making, and critical thinking skills.

Each element is based on Kansas Board of Regents Associate Degree Nursing program alignment requirements.

To be considered for admission, students must submit the following:  

    Disclosure:

    Laws governing nursing, state that an individual may be denied licensure if that person has had certain criminal convictions: Licensure may also be denied because of past disciplinary action on a license.

    Felony Crimes Against Persons are an automatic bar to Kansas nursing licensure as set by the Kansas legislature. Those actions are “as specified in article 34 of chapter 21 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, prior to their repeal, or article 54 of chapter 21 of the Kansas Statutes annotated, or K.S.A. 2015 Supp. 21-6104, 21-6325, 21-6326 or 21-6418, and amendments thereto;â€‌ --- Kansas Nurse Practice Act

    A list referred to as "Total Bars" indicates crimes for which the conviction of would eliminate the potential for licensure. See Felony Crimes Against Persons, Chapter 21, Article 34 in Kansas Statutes Annotated.

    Further information on license restrictions can be found in Statue 11-6520 in the Kansas Nurse Practice Act. It can be accessed at  

    Obtaining the Associate Degree in Nursing from ٍٍٍ½خرتسئµ does not guarantee licensure in any state, including Kansas. Information regarding grounds for disciplinary action pertaining to a Kansas license is addressed in regulation .
